The Automatic Girth Welder (AGW)is a self-propelled machine for horizontal girth (3 o’clock) welding of large storage tanks. The AGW is suitable for tanks built top-down.

The unit runs on a rail fixed to the tank shell. The rail is fixed at about 600 mm above the weld seam level. The rail is fixed to cleats that are either welded to the tank shell or held by magnets. The machine has a welding head, Operating Panel, flux belt assembly and flux recovery unit.
